About the tour

This tour begins from Negombo, Colombo or the airport and will take you on to 6 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, visit kingdoms of ancient Sri Lanka, the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy - the hill capital. Also enjoy the beautiful hill country side and sight-seeing. Experience a train ride from Ella to Nuwara Eliya to see stunning views of Srilankan landscapes.

Day 1

Route: Airport Negombo

Sri Lanka Traveller representative will meet you at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Negombo.

Day 2

Route: Negombo Pinnawala Kandy

After breakfast, visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and then Proceed to Kandy. Visit a cultural show, Temple of the tooth (Dalada Maligawa) and Botanical gardens. Have dinner and stay overnight in Kandy.

Day 3

Route: Kandy Anuradhhapura

After breakfast depart to the ancient city of Anuradhhapura. Anuradhapura was the first capital of Sri Lanka from the fourth century BC until the beginning of the 11th century AD and was the center of Theravada Buddhism for many centuries. The ancient city today is surrounded by monasteries covering an area of over sixteen square miles and declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 4

Route: Anuradhhapura Polonanaruwa

After breakfast proceed to Polonanaruwa which is the second most ancient of Sri Lanka's kingdoms, Polonnaruwa was first declared the capital city by King Vijayabahu I, who defeated Chola invaders in 1070 to reunite the country once more under a local leader.

Places Visited: Archaeological Museum, Gal Vihara, Lankatilaka Vihara, Statue of King Parakramabahu, Tivanka Image House , Vatadage, Rankot Vihara, Kiri Vihara, Royal Palace.

Day 5

Route: Polonanaruwa Sigiriya Dambulla

In the morning depart to the Lions Rock in Sigiriya, a UNESCO world heritage site. Afterwards visit the Rock Cave Temple in Dambulla another UNESCO world heritage site. Overnight stay at Sigiriya or Dambulla.

Day 6

Route: Sigiriya or Dambulla Ella

After breakfast proceed to Ella, a small hill country village. Do sight seeing and walking.

Day 7

Route: Ella Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, proceed to Ella railway station and take a train ride from Ella to Nuwara Eliya. Take a tour of the colonial town of Nuwara Eliya and see how the world famous Ceylon Tea is created at a tea factory and plantation site.

Day 8

Route: Nuwara Eliya Galle

In the morning go straight to Galle From Nuwara Eliya. Galle is a World Heritage city where you can witness colonial time ruins, Museum and famous Dutch Fort. Overnight stay at Galle.

Route: Galle Colombo, Negombo or Airport

After breakfast head off to Colombo, Negombo or the Airport depending on how you expect to finish the tour
